The art of block printing has been used to decorate fabric in India since the 12th century. The design is first created by the artist, then carved onto a wooden block by hand making each piece especially unique (originally a potato was used for this process!).
Most of the craftsmanship is done by families through generations of teamwork. We have been working with our suppliers for 2 decades in Bagru.
These artists will use river clay and vegetable dyes from pomegranates, turmeric and other vegetable roots.
We are proud to celebrate and help preserve one of India's most enduring artistic legacies.
